On April 19th, in the conference room of Novotel Hotel in Bucharest was held the event 'The European project: what is at stake for women’s rights in the 2024 EU elections`, an event meant to contribute to the amplification of the feminist perspective in all areas of society.
At the invitation of the Romanian Women Lobby, the national focal point in the field of Women, peace and security, Colonel Manuela Mihai, attended the event together with Gianina Dimitrescu, director of the National Agency for Gender Equality, chief police commissioner Irina Slabu of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, senior inspector of the Nicoleta Diaconu prison police in the National Administration of Penitentiaries, as well as distinguished political figures from the European Union, Romania, Eastern Europe and representatives of civil society.
Democracy means the same chance for everyone to participate in and influence decisions that affect people in all areas of society.
An essential condition for democracy is equal representation and participation of women and men in politics and decision-making.
