Female Empowerment Summit, 25-29 feb. 2024 27.02.2024
On February 25-29, 2024, in California, USA, the Consulate General of Romania in Los Angeles and OP Global Event organized the Female Empowerment Summit, the activity aimed to promote Romanian female leadership in various fields of activity and to provide new opportunities for bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
In this respect, women working in various fields of activity, such as: entrepreneurial, financial-banking, medical, diplomacy and defence, were invited to participate.
The MApN was attended by Colonel Manuela MIHAI, a national focal point in Women, Peace and Security (FPS) which organized and moderated a panel dedicated to women in the defence sector, where he invited Major General Sheryl Gordon, former Alabama National Guard commander, Colonel Monica Smith, FPS officer in Alabama and Harriette William Bright, UN Women.
On the sidelines of the summit, Colonel Manuela Mihai attended meetings held at the Consulate General of Romania in Los Angeles, the University of California Los Angeles, and the University Hospital California Los Angeles, during which he supported interventions related to the partnership with Alabama, the representation of Romania within the UN Network of national focal points and the promotion of women in the military system, in peacekeeping operations, challenges, difficulties and ways to solve them, the woman behind the military leader – mother, wife, daughter or sister.
