On December 6, at National Defense University “Carol I” was held the Conference “Implementing the Agenda Women, Peace and Security – progress and ways of cooperation”.
This activity took place due to the official visit that the Alabama National Guard, led by major General Sheryl Gordon, is performing during this period in Romania and is the result of the Cooperation Plan agreed at the beginning of this year, a plan aimed at analyzing the stage of the implementation process of the field, sharing lessons learned and good practices.
The key theme of the Conference was the role of women in conflict prevention and resolution, peace negotiations, consolidation, peace-keeping, humanitarian action, response and post-conflict reconstruction.
The event was attended by representatives of the US delegation, representatives of the Parliament, the Government, the Romanian diplomatic Institute, the Romanian Intelligence Service, the Special Telecommunications Service, the University of Bucharest, the National School of political and Administrative Studies, the National Administration of Penitentiaries, the Protection and Guard Service, as well as other representatives of the academic sector.
The Women, Peace and Security Agenda provides strong support for women’s equal and non-discriminatory participation in leadership and the process of ensuring and promoting peace and security. The planned activities will provide an excellent opportunity to improve training through the exchange of experience gained in the implementation of the field, by both partner states.
