Romanian-Canadian seminar on “Women in missions abroad”, 25 Nov. 2021
25.11.2021
Ministry of National Defence, Lieutenant-Colonel Manuela-Elena Bercea, participated in the Romanian-Canadian seminar on “Women in missions abroad” organized at the Air Force Academy “Henri Coanda” in Brasov.
The purpose of the Romanian-Canadian seminar on “Women in missions abroad” is to train the young generation to remove gender stereotypes and increase the number of women on foreign missions.
During the seminar, lessons learned, good practices were shared and lectures were given by the military women with experience in foreign missions from the Canadian Air Force, the Romanian Air Force and the Gender Management Office.
This activity is a reminder of the importance Canada attaches to women, peace and security, as stated earlier this year by the Canadian Ambassador, Mrs. H.E. Annick Goulet, during the meeting she had at the Ministry of National Defence headquarters with the State Secretary and Chief of the Department for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, Mrs. Simona Cojocaru.

The opportunity for such an activity was represented by the presence in the Mihail Kogalniceanu military base, starting with August this year, of a detachment of the Royal Canadian Air Force, which carries out enhanced Air Policing (EAP) missions under NATO command, on the territory of Romania.
