Ministry of National Defence coordinates the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda at national level, creating a structure dedicated to this area - the Gender Management Office .
This area concerns in particular the promotion of women in the defense sector, participation in abroad missions and operations, in mediation and peace negotiation processes and, last but not least, the protection of women in conflict areas.
At present, there are women military and civilian staff in execution and leadership positions at all hierarchical levels, the only selection criteria being competence and professionalism, applicable to all staff.
With no discriminatory criteria or restrictions, more and more young women are turning to the military. Also, more and more female military personnel participate alongside their male colleagues in missions in theaters of operations.
